This year marks the 100th anniversary of the beginning of World War I or what is sometimes referred to as the Great War.
We have developed a series of workshops to commemorate this anniversary tied in to life on the Home Front and recruitment of young men to fight and young women into the nursing profession or as nursing auxiliaries to assist in the care of the wounded.
The first of these workshops is being run in Annan Museum 3, 8, 9 10 & 30 October in conjunction with their exhibition featuring recruitment posters and objects belonging to early recruits from the Annan area. These workshops are aimed at upper primary and lower secondary classes and will give a flavour of the atmosphere that was in the air in the early stage of the War.
