Last week Jackie Lee, our founder and director, was at the Association for Heritage (AHI) Conference in Bedford. It was at this conference that the winners of the prestigious Discover Heritage Awards were announced.
These Biennial Awards are highly prized within the heritage profession being the only awards in the UK and Ireland to celebrate excellence in interpretation judged by the leading interpreters in these countries. Jackie was appointed as the judge from Scotland for the 2019 – 2021. It is deemed a badge of honour to be shortlisted for these awards, the icing on the cake is to win.
These are the winners of the various categories are listed below:
Museums and Historic Properties / Site: Joint first: Dunfermline Museum and Gloucester Cathedral
Visitor / Interpretation Centres: International Bomber Command Centre, Lincoln
Volunteer and Community Projects: The Neolithic Longhouse, La Hougue Bie, Jersey – Jersey Heritage
Events and Activities: Performance of Roseliska at Porchester Castle recreated theatre. Porchester Castle, English Heritage
The overall winner for excellence in heritage interpretation went to Dunfermline Museum.
